Our students come from all walks of life. Some are experienced industry practitioners while others come straight from their undergraduate degrees. We have both international and local students, and part-time and full-time students.
We are physically located in the UTS Tower (building 1) in the heart of Sydney. We make good use of our location by visiting galleries and museums and having field trips around Sydney. The MIMM courses have their own dedicated labs that are available for students to use outside of class times.
Our students receive a high level of individual attention. Because we strongly encourage learning that crosses different disciplines, fields and subject areas each student is carefully counselled to tailor a program of core and elective subjects specific to their talents and interests. The MIMM core classes are generally small (about 25 students) and are often run as seminars rather than the standard lectures and tutorials. This encourages very productive interactions between students and academics.
We employ many guest lecturers, from respected multimedia practitioners to international visitors. We also organise various events throughout the year to showcase student work and give students the opportunity to speak with industry professionals, including recruiters.
